Web and mobile clients rarely break because an API is down; far more often a field has silently become nullable or an error format has shifted. Contract tests exist to catch exactly that. We build a suite that checks every response against its schema, verifies status codes and error structures, and asserts the authorisation rules that matter most, such as one customer never being able to retrieve another's record. It runs on every pull request, turning a breaking change into a failed build instead of a partner complaint weeks later.
